Maldivian Hajj pilgrims who are in Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj rituals spent last night at Mina. However, the pilgrims will commence their journey to Arafat early this morning.
According to information received all Maldivian pilgrims are in good health. According to Ministry of Islamic Affairs a total of 1050 pilgrims went to hajj this year and that they were taken under the custodianship of 10 different Hajj Groups.
Major Hajj Groups who has taken pilgrims this year to perform hajj rituals are Athamaa Hajj group, Zaeem Lemanasikil Group, Al Manasikil Group, Malisha Enterprises Group, Al Safaa , Jamaath Azee, Al Fathul and Air Express.
This year a total of 1,707,814 people from 181 countries went to Mecca to perform hajj. According to sources this is a 3% increase when compared to last year. In addition when Saudis and foreign national residing in Saudi Arabia who went to Mecca for hajj rituals are taken in to consideration then the total figure of hajjis is expected to rise 3 Million.
