Wataniya holds Bodu Mas Parade

Wataniya Maldives has held cultural activities on the main streets of Male’ to celebrate the Adzha Eid Holidays.

The event which commenced in front of the Youth Center at 1600 hours, included Bodu Mass, Maali dance, Bilehdhafi Negun, and Bodu Beru and ended at artificial beach. The event is organized by Wataniyya every year and has received and has become widely popular with the people especially with the children. Many who watched the event, here in Male’ and in atolls by TV, has expressed their satisfaction and happiness.

“We are so happy to see the parade; my children liked it so much, they don’t see these things very often, it is difficult to take the children out to atolls every year to participate in Eid festivities, we were so happy to see the cultural activities here in Male’; people in Male’ usually see these things on TV” Marium Inaya said.

In addition to Male’ Eid festivities are being held in atolls and people from Male’ have gone over to the islands to party. Islands like Naifaru, Kuda Huvadhoo, Eyadhafushi and Komandoo are the favorites, according to reports.

Bodu Mass and Maali dance a very common activity of the past which is now a lost tradition and is rarely seen in Male’. The event was well received by the general public.
