Hiriya School opens

Hiriya School the second all girls school providing secondary education has commenced teaching.

The school commenced teaching yesterday morning with a special assembly attended by over 500 students.

Speaking at the assembly, education minister Dr. Mustafa Luthfy said that he hoped that school would a model school to all other schools in the country and urged all students to make best use of the school. Further a special prayer was also made.

Hiriya School is the first school in Male’ to follow a single session principle. Aminiyya School has revealed that any student in grades 8 or 9 have the opportunity to join Hiriya School and around 500 Aminiyya students have already joined.

The school, built under Japanese government grant aid, is housed in a 4 storey building and has a design capacity of 1500 students. The school has 25 class rooms and other essential facilities and was constructed with the objective of providing a relief to the ever increasing student population of Aminiyya School.
